Need: Goldwell, a global
leader in the professional salon hair care industry with headquarters
in Japan and Germany, has supported several large charitable initiatives
in the interest of breast cancer prevention. Although Goldwell wanted
to continue its support of the breast cancer issue, they wanted a charitable
alliance with a smaller group with less sources of funding (1) where
they could truly feel they were making a difference in the selected
charity, and (2) Goldwell’s national network of salons could get
involved.
Action: CCG introduced
Goldwell to the Young Survival Coalition (YSC)—a start-up non-profit
organization of just 40 women under 40 years of age who were breast
cancer survivors. YSC was dedicated to providing Action, Advocacy and
Awareness on the issue of breast cancer in younger women— a critically
needed, yet woefully under funded, initiative to save the lives of the
thousands of women each year who are touched directly or indirectly
by breast cancer.
Results: Goldwell administration,
marketing and human resources personnel attended a presentation by YSC
organized by CCG at the company’s North American headquarters.
They unanimously committed to underwrite YSC’s first brochure.
National in-salon promotions for breast cancer awareness in young women
were also developed with proceeds channeled back to YSC’s outreach
and education initiatives. Goldwell continuously supports the YSC message
on their website and on their “on-hold” phone message. Today,
the YSC is a nationwide group of volunteers and breast cancer advocates.
Clearly its mission could not have been realized without the vision
of a major corporation such as Goldwell. As a proud sponsor, Goldwell
asks you to take time out to visit www.youngsurvival.org.
